San Francisco Vacation
A short summary of our trip:Sunday-Fisherman's Wharf for lunch and seals-just a scan at the shops. Drove to Monterey to a motel.
Monday-Monterey-Went on a whale watch-saw 2 humpbacks, seals and otters, then went on the 17 mile drive past Spyglass, Cypress Pt, Pebble Beach (golf courses), explored Carmel a little, then ate dinner at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch Restaurant overlooking a pasture with sheep and wetlands out to the bay. We had a little California wine and dinner there.
Tuesday-Did the Pacific Coast Highway 1 down to San Luis Obispo with breathtaking views and a stop to watch elephant seals. Ben & Alaina took us to lunch and dinner. We visited a winery and saw grapes dumped into a crusher & de stemmer.
Wednesday-Returned to SF via the Salinas Valley going through the vineyards of Paso Robles then on to the farms in Salinas Valley stopping at the Steinbeck Museum & Agriculture Museum within (fascinating) and back to SF where we got a room. Lyle watched baseball (Wld. Series). I drove to the mall using my GPS.
Thursday-Breakfasted in Sausalito at a hotel's sidewalk café. Saw redwoods and deer at Muir Woods, Lyle caved to my wishes to ride the cable cars, met my high school classmate and her husband at the Beach Chalet-2nd floor restaurant with a window wall overlooking the Pacific and seemingly endless beach. We got there 2 hours early and watched the kite surfers and sunset.
